  • Workshop Day B: Effective customer-centric network management

Pre Summit Workshop Day A: 30 May 2010

09:00 – 12:30 Taking advantage of the 3G user requirements transformation: Upgrade your network performance measurement and optimisation strategies for better business results

Overview:

This interactive workshop will provide a new set of ideas and tools that will allow you to deploy a whole new approach to 3G network optimisation.

The workshop will explore the most significant changes in:

  • Performance requirements, trends and relevant tips
  • Suggestions to equip your teams to meet the challenges posed by the explosion of 3G data services, evolved usage profiles and significantly reduced budget availability

At the end of the workshop participants will gain a deep understanding of the most advanced performance measurement techniques and the options available to impact the Quality of Experience (QoE), make business results faster, more efficient and lower the overall cost of operations.

13:30 – 17:00 Managing your network QoS, CAPEX and OPEX when outsourcing its design

by attending this workshop you will be able to:

  • Understand how and why approaches to outsourced network designs vary between operators
  • Evaluate the role of network design in managing CAPEX, OPEX and quality
  • Identify and overcome the challenges to the strategy-designdeployment process when the design is outsourced
  • Examine the pros and cons of different outsourcing setups
  • Take part in a discussion on typical roles between the operator and the outsourcing partner
  • Implement a design that works well and that you can measure

This workshop will also include group work entitled “Managing the conflict between an operator and the service vendor”. You will be divided into smaller groups and a case study will then be given to simulate a conflict situation where a service vendor is not meeting its SLA for the network quality. Each group will work independently, analyse the situation from their perspective and prepare their agenda with argumentation for a conflict management meeting between the two parties. Groups will then present their findings and propose preferred solutions for the rest of the delegates at the end of the session.
